OVERVIEW
Our short break cycling tour combines the “must sees” sites that every traveller who spend times in the region should visit: Vesuvius and Pompeii ruins and some rides along one of the most famous stretch of Italian coastal road: the scenic Amalfi Drive.
The ideal opportunity to extend your tour with a cycling section passing through some of the coastal villages that you wouldn’t have the opportunity to visit during your walking tour. At the end of the short break you have the possibility to add extra nights in Amalfi, Praiano, Positano, Sorrento or wherever you wish or start your walking tour along the network of pathways of the area.

ITINERARY
Arrival in Salerno or Cava de’ Tirreni train station and reach by private transfer the Hotel located in a green and peaceful valley. Cava de’ Tirreni is a delightful little town rich in history and less touristic than other places on the Amalfi Coast , called the green gate of the Amalfi Coast . Your accommodation is located in a nice little village with narrow streets and alleys, nestled in a landscaped valley. It is the perfect starting point for combining Vesuvius & Pompeii ruins and a cycling tour along the Amalfi Coast. Overnight: Charming country house in Cava de’ Tirreni
Walking 4 km approx. 1,5 hour hiking to the crater + 3 hours archaeological walking tour in Pompeii. Today you experience a visit to Mount Vesuvius before exploring the Pompeii ruins. A private transfer brings you on the summit of Mount Vesuvius; here you can visit the big crater and enjoy panoramic views over the Bay of Naples. Then you reach by private transfer the world’s most captivating Roman excavation and experience a real intact image of this ancient world. The devastating eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79 trapped 25000 inhabitants of Pompeii, many of whom left impressive examples of everyday life in 1st Century. From Pompeii you come back to our charming hotel in Cava de’ Tirreni by train + local bus.

Road cycling – moderate – Km 26.7You start the day visiting the attractive Benedictine Abbey of the Holy Trinity. You experience the intangible atmosphere of a glorious past, visiting the true symbol of the religious and cultural prestige of Cava de’ Tirreni. After a pleasant and peaceful visit of the Abbey’s treasures, directly from the church square, you start a lovely cycling tour experiencing the first astonishment of the Amalfi Coast, with its tiny villages located on the hillsides and stunning coastline views of the Bay of Salerno. You pass by the first villages of the Divine Coast. Optional stop at the decorated village of Vietri sul Mare: the home of the hand painted ceramic art. There is time to explore at leisure this colourful town, with the option to visit local workshops where you can see the hands of a craftsman create exclusive works of art. From here you continue riding along the “Italy’s most scenic stretch of coastline” passing by the fishing village of Cetara and the tiny villages of Maiori & Minori before reaching your final destination and have your drink enjoying the view from the terrace of your hotel in Amalfi.

Road cycling – moderate/challenging – Kms 37 or Kms 72.You start riding along the Amalfi Drive SS163 from Amalfi toward Sorrento. Today’s bike ride provides outstanding views with several moderate climbs; You may choose between a shorter option or a longer one, according to your level of fitness. Along the way you can take your time to enjoy the scenery experiencing the glamour and enchantment of the Sirens’ Land with sensational landscapes overlooking the bays of Salerno and Naples. The first section of the road is an amazing ride along the cliff side, one of the most dramatic stretch of shore line with the sea hundreds of meters below. Then you may stop and visit the colourful town of Positano or you may reach the tourist centre of Sorrento, where you can enjoy wonderful views over the bay of Naples and the Vesuvius before coming back to your hotel in Amalfi.

Your tour ends after breakfast but you may choose to extend your trip with an extra challenging ride to Ravello or you may add extra nights including activities such as hiking and sea-kayaking or you may continue with one of our self- guided walking tours. INCLUSIONS
