Cinque Terre Walking Tour – Sept 2018

“Just finished 6 nights in the Backroads of Amalfi hiking adventure with my husband. This tour included 6 dinners as well. I had taken same adventure 4 years ago, with a friend, and have to say adding Sorrento this time was great. Hiking The Punta Campanella trail was a spectacular day, with amazing views. All our meals were a wonderful experience and really introduced my husband (his first time in Europe) to the joys of eating wonderful food in Italy. It was so fun to have Fortunato again as our driver, he is such a nice man, so pleasant to be around and professional. Having lived his whole life in one of the towns, he gave us his local knowledge which really interesting to us. We hiked every day, ate wonderful meals every night and had comfortable lodging to rest at night. Both times I felt the experience was so unique, taking the local buses, mingling in the little towns, getting to practice a little bit of Italian too; the locals seem to love it and so did we.

“We have taken two walking trips with ICNOS, and we would love to take a third. They provide detailed walking directions and maps for each day in some of the most beautiful places I have seen. We have now, in April 2017, returned to ICNOS to arrange a wonderful week-long trip to Sicily. This was less a walking trip like the ones in Amalfi, Tuscany, and the Cinque Terre and more of an around-the-island introduction to Sicily. ICNOS arranged car and driver and public transportation along with country and city hotels. They even found the best undiscovered restaurant in Trapani and got us a reservation. Every travel detail worked perfectly so we could enjoy ancient monuments, nature preserve, wine tasting, and a balcony view of Mt. Etna. We could never have seen Sicily like this without ICNOS knowledge of Italy and careful planning.”

To me, long exposed to the slow food culture of the San Francisco Bay Area, our night in Tramonti was a particular stand out. I will always be grateful for that unexpectedly fine “pizza dinner” and to our gracious hosts there.
